Jul. 5th, 2004 12:45 pmA weekend full of music.
drebleloaw played the Summerfest on Saturday. I had the opportunity to see The Boys from County Hell, and must go to see them again - the next time they're ripping up Pogues tunes, I want to have dancing shoes on and whiskey in my belly. Just as we finished packing the car and greeting
dageron and the AlanaBob, all there to see Mushroomhead, John got a call to play at the Lamplighter with Big City (featuring the incomparable Cy Sulak on guitar), so we rushed off to Parma Heights. Set up and playing in 20 minutes, perhaps a land-speed record. They played Steely Dan, Todd Rundgren, Motown, jazz, blues, funk, and all those songs I loved in the seventies that you never hear. And they called me up to sing, so of course I did.
Home by 3, up the next morning to do a Mojo Whitey gig at 1 (more singing), followed immediately by another Squeaky Wheels gig, this time at a private party at "Hillside" (and more singing!) The people there laid out the hospitality (and jello shots!), and by the time we got home at midnight, I was tired, happy, and tired. Did I mention tired?
Today looks like a beautiful day, but I have a ton of work to do on web sites and computers, so I'll be inside. Sigh. Hopefully there'll be time for a walk later.
