Doctors, Good and Bad
Oct. 3rd, 2006 08:12 pmI've been sick. Round one of the flu last week, and a new version of pain and swelling started Sunday. Went to CSU's Health Center & the doctor there sent me to St. Vincent Charity's emergency room, fearing a brain infection. After 2 pain-killer shots (the first didn't work, the second did) and a prescription for miracle 3-day antibiotics, I was sent home.
Oh, and the doctor first tried to kill me by prescribing a penicillin antibiotic, although the chart clearly stated I'm allergic. And he refused to answer my questions.
But the doctor from CSU called today to follow up! And explained that trying the different pain-killers was actually ruling out different kinds of infections. And because the second shot worked, it meant it wasn't a brain infection. The doctor was caring and helpful, and before today, I thought it was unheard of for a doctor to call a patient to follow up. I'm just amazed.
And almost well again.
